“Is peace even possible in my life?”

“Can I get my joy back?”

“Will I ever feel close to my partner again?”

If you’ve ever asked these questions, then welcome!

I’m Kim Smith, Licensed Professional Counselor.

I help people get their joy and peace back.

“Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up.”

-Anne Lamott

If you’ve found your way here, I wonder if things may be feeling pretty dark.

I also suspect you might have some stubborn hope in you…hope that things can be better.

Poke around my website. If you think I might be a good person to walk with you as you do the hard work of healing, I’d be honored to take the journey of restoration with you.

Why clients come to see me…

Trauma

Do you ever wonder if something from the past is getting in the way of you showing up for your best life now? Are your relationships suffering from a memory (or memories) you just can’t shake? What if it didn’t have to be that way?

Head over to my EMDR page to read more about about how I’ve seen many clients overcome their trauma history, using a kind of therapy called EMDR.

Depression

If life just feels like too much, if doing the “easy” things just feels too hard, I’d guess some parts of your story need some care and attention. Let’s see if we can help you grieve your losses, learn some coping tools, and recover joy and purpose to live your days well again.

Anxiety

If you find yourself swept up in uncontrollable worry, or if your body is giving you signals that things are out of control (racing heart, digestive troubles, sleep disturbance), it doesn’t have to be that way.

Let’s see if we can uncover both some practical tools to help you, as well as addressing the root of the problem.

Couples Work

Do you find yourselves having the same fight over and over? Have you forgotten how to connect with each other? Are you feeling distant?

Many couples have found that couples counseling has helped them to feel closer again. I use an approach called the Gottman Method, based on over 50 years of relationship research. It provides a helpful roadmap to heal relationships, and also gets at the heart of the issues you’re facing.
