What is EMDR?

EMDR is a kind of therapy that helps you overcome past trauma or difficult experiences.  It’s simple, effective, and results often happen much faster than with other kinds of counseling.

EMDR stands for Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing — what a mouthfull, right?  Unlike it's name, it’s actually a very simple process. It has become a widely-used approach that can help with all sorts of things, including anxiety, depression, or PTSD. Basically, it’s a research-based, safe and structured way to help your brain reprocess difficult or traumatic experiences, so that they aren’t as powerful or distressing. We can’t get rid of the memories, but we can change the way they effect your everyday life.

We can do EMDR virtually or in person, and it can also be combined with other kinds of therapy. Clients who like structure and seeing notable progress are often drawn to this kind of therapy.
